Frequently Asked Questions

Get Started

What is Nebula?

Nebula is an open‑source platform for discovering, monitoring and managing network devices.

Is Nebula really free?

Yes. The code is released under an open license and can be used or modified at no cost.

Which operating systems are supported?

The collector agent runs on Windows, Linux and macOS. The web dashboard is accessed through any modern browser.

How do I deploy Nebula?

Clone the repository, install dependencies and start the server as described in the getting started guide.

Can Nebula monitor cloud infrastructure?

Yes. By installing collectors in cloud networks you can poll virtual machines and cloud devices just like on‑prem hardware.

Does it support alerts and notifications?

Nebula can send notifications via email, webhooks or chat when thresholds are crossed or devices go offline.

How does Nebula handle security?

Role‑based access control and encrypted communication keep data safe. Only the permissions you grant are available.

Can I build my own plugins?

Absolutely. The plugin architecture exposes hooks so you can add polling methods, integrations and UI panels.

Is there a roadmap?

Yes. Upcoming features are tracked on the roadmap page and in the GitHub issue tracker.

Where can I ask questions or report bugs?

Use the issue tracker on GitHub or email the team at info@nebula-project.org.
